The Principal Designer Building Regulations (PDBR) register has been launched to demonstrate to third parties the competence held by those on the register.
This initiative, launched by the Association for Project Safety (APS), is designed to help identify qualified designers who meet the stringent standards necessary for the safety and integrity of construction projects.
APS President Mark Snelling stated: “The PDBR register is a crucial advancement in enhancing professional competence and accountability. It offers practitioners a reliable means to validate their skills, while giving clients confidence in meeting their statutory obligations.”
Professionals listed on the PDBR register have successfully undergone rigorous assessments, confirming their ability to fulfil the Principal Designer role as per the updated Building Regulations.
The APS are hopeful that the register will empower clients to demonstrate their compliance with legal requirements, significantly boosting safety and adherence to regulations across the construction sector. To add, they said that the ultimate goal is to contribute to public welfare and improve the quality of the built environment.
