Engagement levels are suffering, with research revealing that only a third of employees are highly engaged at work. One of the most effective things you can do as a business is look after your staff, as they’ll then look after everything else.
Here are some tips to help improve employee engagement:
- Update your employees:
It’s important to keep employees updated with what’s going on within the organisation, not only does it keep everyone in the loop; but it can be used as a motivation tool. You can update people on things that have worked well which can inspire others.
- Make your management team visible:
The relationship between employees and management is extremely important. The management team should appear accessible and be engaged with the organisation which helps employees to feel closer to the business and creates a better sense of involvement.
- More employee feedback:
Employees who receive little or no feedback are actively disengaged. Employee engagement will increase if you tell your employees about their strengths and weaknesses, on a regular basis, this will help with personal development.
- Encourage innovation:
Employees can become disengaged if they feel as though their work isn’t valued and fail to give their best efforts. Openly reward creativity and make it clear that it’s okay to take risks when they are seeking ways to improve performance.
