One year ago, THSP launched our Risk Assessment Builder. Since the launch, thousands of unique assessments have been created. The builder has gone from strength to strength and received praise from many of its users:
“It is absolutely brilliant, takes the hassle out of doing risk assessments and is totally intuitive to use.” – David Narroway – Intra Ltd
In September 2017, THSP launched the first release of our Risk Assessment Builder into our online portal, MyTHSP. The interactive tool was devised by the health and safety and IT experts at THSP Risk Management and was designed to simplify the process of creating risk assessments whilst ensuring a high-quality end result. There are lots of risk assessment options on the market, however, the majority are blank templates or generic libraries, not actual risk assessment builders. We believe our Risk Assessment Builder is unique in the way that it analyses the selections and suggests appropriate control measures, likely injuries etc, building in real time as you go through.
- Over 4,000 assessments have been created – excluding amendments to live assessments!
- The most common hazard is Poor/inadequate work environment or conditions/slips, trips and falls and ergonomics which appears in nearly 3000 assessments. Manual handling was a very close second.
- The most popular control measure covers training and competence has appeared in nearly all assessments.
- One user has created over 300 assessments and likes using the duplicate feature. This allows the user to use an assessment as a template rather than starting from scratch all the time
The builder follows the HSE’s 5 steps to a risk assessment and contains over 2,000 control measures which means that the builder can cover most activities thrown at it. The control measures are ordered and grouped by The Hierarchy of Hazard Control Measures which means that the most effective control measures are at the top of the list.
Over the year, many updates were released to improve the service. The design of the whole portal was updated to enhance the experience of mobile users. A Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) selector was added. A control measure action list was released which was a particular favourite for many users. The ability to group assessments, send briefing requests and interactive forms were the latest features to be released.
So what can you expect in the future?
MyTHSP is THSP’s customer portal. It is the home of the Risk Assessment Builder. It is also home to our Business Safe customer documents, cosh assessments and more. A recent update has included the release of a Site Safety Evaluation Dashboard with live action plans. Customers can now sign in to MyTHSP to view their site inspections online and run reports on them.
The most common question we get is “What about a COSHH Assessments?”. Don’t worry, a COSHH Assessment Builder is in development and is expected to be released in the new year. Watch this space.
The Risk Assessment Builder is continually developing to keep up with customer demands. New control measures are being added to fit a wide range of industries. THSP listen to your feedback and act.
Features currently in development and that are nearing release include the ability to download multiple assessments at once, the ability to generate a link which can be sent to non-registered users of MyTHSP so that they can see your assessment online and more interactive forms such as a Noise Generating Tools Register.
